Thankful for our Brand Ambassador Veterans
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we took some time to reflect on what we are thankful for as a company.
Beyond the fun perks that come with working in the professional realm of field marketing, our ultimate source of thankfulness stems from the meaningful connections we have formed with others. Connections with: a close-knit group of supportive and diligent co-workers; amazing clients and innovative brands; and last but certainly not least, our incredible field team of brand ambassadors.
As we approach the Mirus ten-year anniversary (coming January 2019!), it is fascinating to look back on some particular connections that have endured the test of time, amidst the company’s enormous growth and progression throughout the years.
In this post, we highlight a handful of brand ambassadors who have been on the Mirus field team for 5+ years, dating all the way back to 2009!
These dedicated individuals are truly are wonderful examples of passionate, loyal, and hard-working professionals, and for that we are extremely thankful!
2009 Veteran: Elke H.
When Mirus Promotions, Inc. began in 2009, Julie Seal-Gaustad began recruiting brand ambassadors from personal connections.
Elke H., a friend of a friend of Julie’s, was the company’s very first recruitment. “She asked me if I wanted to work for her doing demos. I can still remember my first event, meeting with her beforehand to pick up product and POS.”
Over the span of almost ten years, Elke has noticed a lot changes within the field marketing industry: “One major thing is the improved technology. From events being emailed to us, to the recaps, communication has all been improved through more efficient technology. Also, there are so many more brands that Mirus works with now compared to when I first started with the company.”
As a seasoned professional, Elke has some extremely valuable advice for any new brand ambassadors starting out in the business: “Always be prepared and professional. People are always watching you while you are executing an event and you want to be looking your best. You will also be recommended and booked for more events if you are reliable. Learn product information so you are comfortable talking to consumers about the products. Putting in that extra effort to be prepared for your event makes a difference.”
Outside of being a brand ambassador, Elke’s life never has a dull moment. She enjoys snowboarding in the winter and traveling year-round when she can fit it in, and any spare moment is spent with her two daughters. She also graduated this year from National University with a Bachelors in Clinical Laboratory Science. “It was a challenge working full time and being a single mother, but I made it a priority to achieve that educational goal.”
2010 Veteran: Athena B. 2011 Veterans: Amy T. and Linda W.
2012 Veteran: Bobby A.
Bobby A. first started with in-store demos back when he was in college in Knoxville, TN around 2005.
“When I moved to San Diego, I immediately became a fitness instructor and met Julie through the gym. Little did I know she owned a business and I would be working for her! I applied for Mirus and got an email back from Julie asking if I was a fitness instructor, as she took my class and is still an active member.
Throughout Bobby’s years working as a brand ambassador, he has noted improved communication methods, different reporting systems, more availability of demos and a wider variety of brands. He particularly loves the noticeable increase in wine demos!
His advice for any newcomers to field marketing? “HAVE FUN and have open communication. Also, be reliable and responsible!”
2012 Veterans: Mimi T., Desiree G., Jennifer L., Phebe S.
2013 Veteran: Tamara T.
