Mirus Promotions’ CEO Gets a “Taste” of the Languedoc-Rousillon Wine Region
It’s likely that you’ve heard of the French wine-growing regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne — but there are many others that are less well known but seeking to gain market share in the U.S. Wine producers from the south of France, specifically Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées, gathered in April at an event hosted by Sud de France Développement at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées in New York City.
Our own Julie Seal, Mirus Promotions’ CEO, was invited to speak at the gathering, which was also attended by buyers from large U.S. and Canadian grocery and beverage chains and importers who wanted to learn more about these French wines, most known for their Rose wines and blends from the different grape varieties that grow together. Her presentation focused on what west coast wine consumers are looking for and their buying behaviors, something she’s grown quite familiar with over the years.
Julie got this opportunity as the result of a strategic partnership with Robert Cavanaugh of Adventure Wine, whose focus is on marketing strategies for wine regions around the world through promotion, education and sales programs. He spoke about the east coast wine consumer and gave a larger overview of the U.S. market’s chain support, so the audience got a coast-to-coast snapshot of wine-buying habits and tastes.
In addition to getting the chance to showcase her expertise about the wine-buying public, Julie gained insight about how wine producers engage with potential buyers and importers — something she found fascinating. She also got to sample the Languedoc-Roussillon wines, a definite highlight of the event!
